Learning to Focus – Thought For January 3, 2015

Step 1 = Learn

There is so much information out there, where the heck do you start?

Focus. It needs to be about focus. Find what you are passionate about, learn everything there is to know about it and then SHARE IT.

My original blog was called joatmon14. Joatmon is an acronym for jack of all trades, master of none. That is what I was. I knew a little bit about a lot of things, but not a lot about anything. No wonder I was lost.

What I have learned in the past month in Empower Network is that I need to focus. That I need to focus on improving ME first. That as I become a stronger person and as I continue to learn more, I will grow and prosper in EVERY area of my life.

I am starting to get the questions about “What the hell is Mark up to?” That’s good, no that is AWESOME! That means that I am changing. The Mark that everyone knew would not be reaching out to people. He would not be shooting a video of himself every morning, he would not be trying to make a name for himself in the online world. No, the Mark that everyone knew worked 12-14 hours a day, kept himself under the radar, hid from problems, and just tried to fit in to the gray world that people just exist in.

That is not enough anymore. I made some huge mistakes living that way, but I am done apologizing about what I used to be. I have made amends to those I have hurt and am willing to do so when the opportunity presents itself with others. Why would I want to mire in that crap any more?

I am supposed to write what I am passionate about. Life is what I am passionate about today. Learning how to get this message to others and at the same time be able to provide for my family the life that they DESERVE, the life that WE DESERVE!

My journey has just begun and it is going to be amazing. And the best part is that I am not going on this journey alone. I have already met so many people that have the same goals as me and we are all in this together.

It is so great to wake up in the morning and be excited about life, about what my day might bring, about the possibility of helping other people that are where I have been. Not sure how best to describe it, it is actually something that you have to live, and that is my goal, that is my passion….TO LIVE

Focusing on learning things that are going to help me grow, that are going to challenge me, that are going to help us in our new business, in our new life.

We are spending most of our time watching the training videos that are available to us through Empower Network and iPAS2, but we are also taking massive action. Be it blogging, social media, Craigslist and paid traffic. One thing we have learned right from the beginning is that it is better to get something out there that is not perfect, than it is to wait and try to make it perfect before we get it out there.

Faith without Action is worthless. Take action now, and then have faith that it is going to pay off in the end. Build that momentum and then keep at it. Resting on our laurels is no longer an option. Be a little bit better than we were yesterday, but not as good as we are going to be tomorrow.

Until next time…..TAKE ACTION in whatever you are doing, it is not going to just happen!

Og Mandino

Hey! Mark here

I came across this quote recently and to be honest, it just sounded like another rah-rah quote, with no actual deep meaning to it. But looks CAN be deceiving.

I looked into the bio of Og Mandino and read his bio and then read his philosophy. The quote means so much more to me now.

Here is exactly what it says under his PHILOSOPHY

Mandino wrote The Greatest Salesman in the World which contains the “time-tested wisdom of the ancients distilled into ten simple scrolls” which, if followed for the prescribed ten months, will as Og says, “seep into my other mind, that mysterious source which never sleeps, which creates my dreams, and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend. As the words of these scrolls are consumed by my mysterious mind I will begin to awake, each morning, with a vitality I have never known before. My vigor will increase, my enthusiasm will rise, my desire to meet the world will overcome every fear I once knew at sunrise, and I will be happier than I ever believed it possible to be in this world of strife and sorrow.” (Scroll I)

The scrolls each have a principle designed to replace bad habits built up over a lifetime which “threatens to imprison my future” (Scroll I) with good habits developed through a ten month process of studying the scrolls. They are:

  • Scroll I – Today I begin a new life.
  • Scroll II – I will greet this day with love in my heart.
  • Scroll III – I will persist until I succeed.
  • Scroll IV – I am nature’s greatest miracle.
  • Scroll V – I will live this day as if it is my last.
  • Scroll VI – Today I will be master of my emotions.
  • Scroll VII – I will laugh at the world (Keep perspective)
  • Scroll VIII – Today I will multiply my value a hundredfold.
  • Scroll IX – I will act now.
  • Scroll X – I will pray for guidance.

Mandino’s main philosophical message is that every person on earth is a miracle and should choose to direct their life with confidence and congruent to the laws that govern abundance. He wrote in Scroll I, “I will not fail as the others, for in my hands I now hold the charts (the Ten Scrolls) which will guide me through perilous waters to shores which only yesterday seemed but a dream.” Og was also a proponent of taking action now. In Scroll IX, the phrase I will act now is written 18 times. He recognized that all successful people take on their own lives by “charting” or consciously choosing both the desired destination and the path to reach it.

This is what I have been learning about over the past month or so, it is all about attitude, all about perspective. That I can and will be successful. That I can and will change my mindset from one that says “eh…maybe” to “YES I CAN!”

It is amazing how things come together sometimes, how when you look for similarities in philosophies instead of ridiculing the differences, that things start making sense. I can get value from just about anything if I have the right perspective.

I love listening to the Inner Circle Audios from Empower Network, they motivate, they resonate, they just make sense. There is so much information at my fingertips now that I just want to absorb and want to share with everyone. Unfortunately not everyone is ready. Even worse is that a lot of them have no idea what they are missing.

I listened to one the other day from Kassandra Lee and Paulo C.Q. and they were talking about doing “Whatever It Takes” to get what you want. The exact quote that really made my ears perk up and take notice was that “Keeping it legal and keeping it ethical are the only restrictions for doing WHATEVER IT TAKES“. There really are no other excuses.

Think about this statement and then read the 10 scrolls above about replacing bad habits. See how they can be incorporated together. This works for any kind of positive change. Try it, you will see what I mean.

Are you ready to do whatever it takes?

I plan on getting Og Mandino’s book ASAP, I have no plans going in on becoming the Greatest Salesman On Earth, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to make changes in my outlook, in my attitude and the first step of doing anything is to LEARN

Enjoy Your Day

Hitting Bottom – Bouncing Back Thought For December 30

We have all hit a bottom at some point in our lives, some lower than others. Some MUCH lower than others.

But it doesn’t matter how low the bottom is, it doesn’t have to get any lower than it already is.

We always have options, some might not be as apparent as others, but they are there. I am speaking from experience here.

I’m sure you have heard all of the clichés about “picking yourself up by the bootstraps” or that it is “always darkest before the dawn”.

One thing that I have learned in my lifetime is that the easiest way to get yourself back up off the ground once you seem to be as low as you can be, is to ask for help.

Unfortunately pride tends to stand in the way of asking for anything sometimes, but getting past that pride is a MUST. Ego will always stand in the way.

“I can do it myself” are the some of the loneliest words that I know. I have said it way too many times. It took a proverbial dropkick to my head to finally get me to admit that I don’t have all the answers and that I needed some help, and since that day that I will remember for the rest of my life, it has gotten nothing but better!

I have been told that EGO stands for Easing God Out, which makes absolute sense to me. I tried to play God for a very long time, always trying to get the world to face the way that I was going. Life doesn’t work that way. Sometimes we need to change our outlook and our attitude in order to be able to live life on life’s terms.

Asking for help should not be hard, but I can tell you that it is, or at least it was. It takes practice just like anything else that one learns. It doesn’t happen overnight, but as it becomes a part of your outlook each day, that maybe there is a better way and it is NOT mine, it gets so much better. The weight of the world is lifted off of your shoulders.

Anyway, it took me to hit bottom pretty hard to see the error in my ways. But I AM bouncing back and part of my recovery is that I need to get out of myself and help others. And the funny part is, that when you start to help others, you’ll see more and more of like-minded people doing the same.

I know that we all read about and see news about bad people all the time, but I know that those are the exception, not the rule in this world. There are so many good people out there that are willing to help and that will support and be “in your corner”. Those are the people that I choose to hang around with these days.

And it is also amazing just where you find these people. I have several groups that I rely on for different parts of my life and my ultimate goal is to be able to pay these people back. And the best way (and only way) that these good people want to be paid back is for me to pay it forward. To help someone that is going through what I went through.

I am not going to go into details about these folks right here and now, but if you are interested in a life changing opportunity, please let me know in the comments and I will communicate directly with you.

Peace and Love always

Ignorance and Confidence – Thought for December 29, 2014

To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence.

Mark Twain

What does this quote mean? Good question. I went online and did a little reading on this quote and I found this opinion in a forum that really resonated with me:

I think the meaning of ignorance in this saying means, to ignore people or things that are unimportant to what you are trying to achieve in your life.Only focus on what is fundamental to your progression. Just use what´s relevant and don´t let traditional values or concepts that society or people have forced upon everyone, influence you, your thoughts or your actions. I think it means to be different …the majority of people are afraid of people who are different

Being ignorant is not being stupid, it is being unaware of something. So in this case it would mean being unaware of what others think that you should be.

It would mean acting and living the way that you want to, regardless of all of the “inside the box” thinkers out there. Doing things that make you happy, that make you and your family able to feel the freedom to be who they really are.

  • Standing in a long line at Wal-Mart waiting to be checked out by a disgruntled employee that really doesn’t want to be there.
  • Only listening to music that is played on the local “Hits” radio station because that is what everyone else is listening to
  • Working at a job that you hate because everyone tells you that it is the only way “to get ahead”

Been there, done that, don’t want to go back!

We only get one chance at this. Life was not meant to be lived according to others. Living life on life’s terms does NOT mean that you have to let everyone and everything control you, it means that we need to learn how to deal with life HEAD ON, not to run and hide from it.

Dance like no one is watching

Sing like no one is listening

Live like it is your last day on earth.

Have the confidence to do the things that you want to do.

That is what Ignorance and Confidence means to me!

Failure after Failure leads to Success

According to Wikipedia, Failure
is the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success.

I don’t buy that. The opposite of success is NOT even trying.

I would rather try, and I mean really try, and fail than to not try at all. We sell ourselves short all the time.

“I can’t do that”…”it’s too hard”…”it’s not worth the effort”

Aren’t you tired of just existing? Of just doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? (that actually is the definition of insanity)

I am. If I fail….so what…at least I tried. Sitting on the sidelines and watching life pass me by can no longer be an option.

Now with all that being said, I am not a complete idiot. When something comes along that has a tried and proven method of success, of course I will be open-minded to learn that system and apply it, who wouldn’t? That is not being lazy, that is being smart.

If I am trying to lose weight and get in shape, why would I try to invent a new method of doing so? There is so much information out there that I can absorb and apply in order to change my lifestyle. And that is really what it is, a change in lifestyle.

If I am trying to build a bird house, same thing. Check out what others have done before me and come up with the best plan and then BUILD THE BIRD HOUSE. Gather knowledge and then apply it.

No difference in us building our own home business, right? Why would we start from scratch and read all about the thousands of different get rich quick schemes out there promising us miracle results when there is something better available?

We have found something that is proven to work. It is a complete system, a complete business solution that allows people to jump in and just START BUILDING. I have had many work at home “training courses” that sent me videos to watch or pdf documents to read with the promise that if I just do what they tell me, that I can make a lot of money. And then they disappear.

What we have found is completely different. It is a community of people that have come together from all walks of life that are real. We talk to them regularly. We learn from them all the time. We support each other and encourage each other and celebrate each other’s successes and when we occasionally fail, and we do, we are there to pick each other up and encourage them not to give up. That this SYSTEM works!

We would love to have you join us, to see what I am talking about. To feel the excitement of waking up looking forward to working on our business. I can honestly say that I have never felt this way before.

It is not a get rich scheme, there are no promises that we are going to become gazillionaires overnight. But whether you are looking for a little extra spending money or some help to pay the monthly bills, or you are looking to work from home, be your own boss and live the lifestyle that you choose, this system works.

But it is up to you. There is a 7 day trial period, if it is not for you then you just walk away at no cost to you, other than a few hours of your time watching 5 videos that explain the system in detail.

Our information is below if you would like to reach out to us with any questions or concerns, we would be glad to answer as best we can and if we don’t know the answer, we will find you the answer.

Change STARTS NOW, failure is to never start at all

Be All There – Thought for December 27, 2014

Wherever you are – be all there.

Jim Elliot

Found this quote the other day and it jumped out at me. I had no idea who Jim Eliot was, but I really liked his message.

I checked out his bio and now I understand how he lived this message. He was focused on what he believed in, regardless of what others said or thought, even his parents.

A very devout Christian, he wanted to spread the word through missionary work. And even though his plans never seemed to work out exactly the way that they were originally laid out, he remained focused and just made them work. He had planned a missionary trip with a friend to Ecuador, but then his friend had to back out so he kept searching for someone to accompany him and eventually found a way.

To me, this message just reconfirms what I have already come to realize, that if I want to accomplish any of my visions, of my goals, then I have to get laser focused until I get there. And then WHEN I GET there, I cannot just stop, I need to go further. I need to achieve more. I will always need to give back more, much much more, than I have received.

That is the journey that I am on, that we are on.  We WILL get there.

How about you?

See you on the inside. Be All There, otherwise there is no sense in being there at all
