A couple months ago I had an epiphany about how cleaning the pool can be related to life, you can see it here.
While I still believe in what I wrote, while checking the pool this morning I had another epiphany of sorts. While the leaves are gone and have been for a while, there is still work to do on a daily basis to keep the pool clean. Need to clean the filter, add chlorine and whatever other chemicals as needed, and an occasional vacuum never hurts either.
Well it sure does not take long for things to get out of hand, miss a few days of cleaning the filter or let the chlorine levels drop and the pool starts to turn on me. Then the feelings that I had screwed up again start to flood in and pretty soon things are back to the way they used to be, all messed up and I am starting over with cleaning the leaves. . . .AGAIN!
But then “Epiphany, the Sequel”, came to me. I don’t have to fix it all in one day. As long as I do a little bit each day to try to make the pool cleaner, it starts to get clean again. Why not apply that to other things I ask myself?
So if I start exercising a little bit each day. . . .
If I start cutting down on the junk food a little bit each day . . .
If I remember to say my prayers in the morning and the evening each day . . .
If I remember to stop setting my own expectations on things each day . . .
If I do something, anything, for another person instead of being in my own selfish little world each day . . .
If I write each day, even when I don’t think I have something to write about. . . .
If I remain humble and teachable each day . . .
I just might turn out to be the clean pool.
